Nutrition and Meal times

At Daisy Daycare we ensure our children are provided with healthy, nutritious and good quality food throughout the day.

We offer three weekly menus to ensure we are providing a variety of meals.

We aim to cater for all special dietary requirements, cultural preferences and/or food allergies.

During meal times we encourage independence as much as possible, although we are available to assist as and when needed. Our children are given opportunities to explore and enjoy meal times with ease as we believe meal times are a great social opportunity for our children to engage in conversation and develop their

senses by expressing individuality and preferences.

Older children are given opportunities to choose their food during 'self serve'. This also promotes independence and life skills by teaching children to pour from jugs, drink from open top cups and serve the correct proportion of food onto their plates.

Staff assess younger children and when they believe they are ready, give opportunities and encourage them to feed themselves and also drink from open top cups.

We support baby led weaning, and follow guidance from parents.

All funded children are given the option to bring in their own packed lunches, in which at Daisy Daycare we always encourage parents/carers to pack healthy snacks. All meals are included for all paid care children.
